1. Why does “real down” have a natural odor? 

Down is a natural protein fiber, just like our hair.

The natural imprint: Each piece of down comes with a trace of oil, which is used to maintain its elasticity and waterproofness. When packed in the factory, it is vacuum-compressed for ease of transportation, which allows the faint odor to build up in the confined space.

Identification: This faint odor is actually proof that the down comes from a natural living organism,  and is an important feature that distinguishes it from synthetic fibers (such as polyester and cotton wool).

2. Why is the smell of duck down slightly more pronounced?

If you are shopping for a duck down comforter, you may find that it has a slightly more pronounced scent than goose down. This is because ducks are waterfowl, and in order to protect their feathers from getting wet, duck down naturally has a slightly higher oil content. But this is actually a huge advantage: the higher oil content means that the down is more resilient and more resistant to washing. Whereas goose down tends to become brittle and lose its fluffiness when washed, duck down retains its warmth even after prolonged use and washing.

3. Wake up to “fresh” down in just one step

The odor is temporary. As our down is deep-cleaned and professionally treated, the odor dissipates quickly and naturally as soon as it is out of the airtight bag and into the fresh air.

Tips for caring and using duvets (FAQ)

Q1: What should I do if I receive a duvet that does not feel fluffy enough?

 A: The duvet has been “suffocated”. The duvet is highly compressed for ease of transportation.

Simple solution: Gently pat the surface of the comforter to allow air to enter the down fibers.

Quick solution: Place in the dryer and dry for 10 minutes on low mode (Low).

NATURAL: Shake and air dry for a few minutes and it will come back to fullness like popcorn.

Q2: Is it normal to open the package and get a “duck/goose” smell?

A: Very normal. Natural down contains oils and fats that accumulate in sealed packages.

Solution: Simply take it out of the package and leave it in a ventilated area for 1-2 days to dry, the odor will dissipate.

Tip: Used in conjunction with a duvet cover, it not only protects the duvet core better, but also significantly reduces the perception of natural odors.

Q3: I found a slight feather drilling out, is it a hair leakage?

A: Please rest assured that a very small amount of feather spillage is a normal physical phenomenon. This indicates that the comforter is made with real down and not artificial filler.

Care advice: It is recommended to use a high-density special duvet cover, which can effectively reduce friction and lock in the warmth.

Q4: Do I need to wash my duvet frequently?

A: Not really. The deep-cleaning and anti-bacterial technology makes the duvet very clean. You only need to change the duvet cover every day, and it is recommended that the duvet core itself is dry cleaned by a professional organization every 2-3 years.
